office42 is an architecture firm founded in 2007 by the husband and wife team Stephanie and Ben Ragle in Los Angeles. It was started on the premise that good design, innovation, and creative solutions should be available to all. After living and working in Europe, India, and New York, Los Angeles seemed the ideal place to synthesize and put into action these diverse experiences.
Stephanie has an undergraduate degree in architecture from San Luis Obispo and a Graduate degree in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. She studied for a year in Copenhagen, Denmark, and after graduating worked in Pune, India and New York. In New York she worked on complex commercial projects such as showrooms and office interiors. While working for a design-build architecture and construction management firm she learned the value that an architect's ownership of a project doesn't stop at design but must continue through budgeting, scheduling, and construction.
Ben has an undergraduate degree in architecture from San Luis Obispo and a Graduate degree in Architecture from UCLA. He studied for a year in Florence, Italy, and after graduating worked in Pune, India and New York. Currently Ben also teaches architecture at Otis College of Art and Design. Through overseeing the construction of a variety of project types, Ben has developed a strong understanding of building details and costs, and uses that experience in office42's design and construction management work. He thrives in the difficult moments of a project, where limitations in budgets or site constraints can lead to unexpected solutions.
